Thank you

Ben was very excited when he arrived home from school to find a package waiting for him. He was even more excited when he opened it to find his beautiful quilt! Thank you so, so much. You've made one little man (and his Mummy) very happy

Biography

At our 20 week scan we were told that our unborn baby had serious heart abnormalities. When Benjamin was born he was transferred to Glenfield Hospital and was diagnosed with a complicated set of heart defects called Shone's Complex. This means that the left side of his heart is small. He has small and malformed mitral and aortic valves, a narrowed aorta and he had several holes in his heart. He needs frequent appointments at the hospital to check how his heart is functioning and he will need Open Heart Surgery in the future to repair or replace his valves.
More recently, Benjamin has also been diagnosed with joint hypermobility. This means that he has floppy, loose and painful joints. The joint hypermobility causes Benjamin to suffer from night time pain which keeps him up for several hours at night, general fatigue and low exercise tolerance.
Last month Benjamin was also diagnosed with Chronic Endobronchitis. This means that he has a chronic chesty cough and needs to take long term antibiotics.
