Biography

Gareth spent the first four and a half weeks of his life in special care baby unit after being born with issues to his eyes and other signs of underlying issues. He was confirmed with Down's by genetic testing within the first couple of weeks of life and Alagiles a bit later.

He was in surgery for his eyes at less than 24 hours old and had had around 10 operations on his eyes since, with more to come to try and give him some sight. He has a lot of stomach problems leading to many other operations but keeps smiling throughout.

Gareth is peg fed and although has the odd taster of food he does not eat for himself.

He has only recently started sitting by himself for a very short period which is a great achievement as we never knew if he would. He may never stand by himself but is slowly developing more strength and control. Which is excellent as we are hoping it will improve his breathing.

Despite all the challenges he is generally a very happy little boy and is well loved by everybody who meets him.
