BiographyIsla was born with 2q37 chromosome deletion (basically the tip of one of her chromosomes is missing). She was tested/diagnosed at 18 months old after we had noticed that she was not meeting her developmental milestones. 2q37 deletion is a rare deletion with only 150 diagnosed cases in the world to date.
Isla has global developmental delay, hearing loss, low muscle tone and hypermobility in her joints. Isla is like a big ray of sunshine to everyone she meets. Despite being in pain with her joints she throws herself at every challenge in her life. She attends a mainstream school with 1 to 1 support and is a big personality wherever she goes.
