Biography

Martha-Rose was diagnosed ante-natally with absent pulmonary valve and tetralogy of fallot. When she was born she was further diagnosed with a disconnected left pulmonary artery. She had her first heart surgery at 12 days old when she had a stent fitted. She then had her first open heart surgery at 13 weeks old, however, had been hospitalised in between due to bronchiolitis. Her first surgery lasted for 7 hours and involved a valve replacement, repairing a hole in the heart and repair of her enlarged pulmonary arteries.

After surgery she was home within 5 days, however the surgery wasn’t a 100% success as the repair to the pulmonary artery effectively failed and needed replacing again when she was 18 months old due to the large amount of scar tissue.

She is now 4 and currently has 9 monthly check ups.
