Biography

After Ben was born he struggled to feed and he had like a squeak. We stayed in a few days on antibiotics to be on the safe side and were due to see ENT as outpatients. We came home and then the following evening after heel prick bloods his jaundice levels had rocketed and he was put into an incubator under light therapy for 8 days.

We came home and we started living our life and he just was not as advanced as babies born the same month. Then at 5 months old he had a seizure and stopped breathing. After two and a half weeks in hospital, so many test and Drs and a lot of seizures and we were told he is disabled.

He has epilepsy and he isn’t meeting milestones due to being delayed. The gap has got bigger and then more tests still don’t tell us exactly what syndrome he has. He is in his head mentally younger than a 2 year old. I have a toddler who is almost 3, she has done things at the right times etc so that’s how we know mentally he’s younger than her. He’s non-verbal and had to have tests to find out he wasn’t growing as he should and is now on growth hormones. He is now 11 and still needs help with everything. Outside he uses a wheelchair, is in nappies 24/7 and has never said a word.
