Lockdown has partially lifted in the UK and the quilts we were holding have all gone out. The quilters are hard at work catching up with the quilting backlog and we are very grateful for their efforts for the children.

LoveQuiltsUK Calendar 2022
Clare Bray is once again creating our fundraising calendar which will be on sale in the Autumn :) Thank you very much to Clare for running this for us again.

Here are the details from Clare if you would like you/your child/your work to appear in the calendar!

"This will be the fifth Love Quilts calendar and whether you are a parent, stitcher or quilter, we want your photos to go in it! The calendars are professionally produced (by me!) and professionally printed (by a printer, the only person who gets paid in the process!) and make lovely gifts for yourself, your postie, your family, your friends and any random strangers you may pass in the street.

The calendar has pictures of squares, quilting and children with their quilts and is sold on here in the autumn with all profits going to LQ. So please send in photos of your favourite squares, of your children with their quilts, of making the quilts, and any imaginative shots eg with pets, stitching outside/on a zipwire/in a submarine, etc (so long as it's lockdown compliant). You can send in as many photos as you like and everyone is in with a chance of getting in as it's no more than one main photo per person. You don't need to be an amazing photographer to enter and you are helping LQUK by entering! Parents, I usually get all the kids entered in, on the back page if they don’t get onto the main pages, so please do enter your childrens’ pictures as we love to have them on the calendar

Rules:
- Photos must be emailed to lovequiltscalendar@gmail.com By emailing pictures of your children or squares to this address you are giving permission for them to be used in the calendar. You can't enter on Facebook and please don't copy pictures back from Facebook then email them - I need the originals.

- Photos from cameras or mobile phones are fine, try and have the file size as large as possible (within reason!). To photograph squares, ideally do them on a light day away from direct sunlight. Photograph from above so that the stitching is straight on in the picture, rather than at an angle. Please leave a decent margin of unstitched white fabric in the photo around the stitched image as this makes it much easier to use. Don't worry about having too much fabric in the photo as I can crop it, whereas I can't add in fabric if the stitching goes right to the edge of the photo. And please make sure the squares are washed and IRONED first. Creased squares really don't look good in photos and it isn't extra work since we do this to send in squares to LQ anyway

- No labels unless in a context shot (stitching with a dog etc)
- Beware of scanners - they tend to give a very bleached and "flattened" effect. Cameras and phones generally seem to give better results.
- I will reply to all emails received so you know I've got them, but please give me a fair amount of time to do this.
- If everyone could help out saying about the calendar and giving the email address on any kids' photos which would be good for it, or any other particularly eye catching photos, that would be very helpful.
- Deadline is 30th June 2021 but it helps if everything isn't left till the last minute so you can email in photos from now. I have all the photos that were sent in last year in the file already so no need to resend any.
- Have fun!"


Mr Tumble
Clare Bray has secured us permission to use the Mr Tumble copyright image to chart our own patterns. Several of our pattern designers have already created patterns which are in the Files section of our Facebook group. You can also see the patterns listed here: Pattern Listing but you need to be signed in to our Facebook group on a web browser (rather than an app) to access the patterns directly.

Hello everyone

Just saying hello as we are still on pause due to lockdown. With no easing of lockdown in sight yet, we have extended all end of January and February square deadlines on to 24th March. If you have a label square for any of these quilts, there is no need to unpick the month on them - keep them as they are. If you have not stitched the month, you can stitch "APRIL" if you like.

We hope you are all keeping well and that our turns for the vaccine will come around soon. We know that several of our stitchers and Kat (in her job as a carer) have already had their first dose.
