Biography

Clarice was a much wanted little sister for Joni, we were both unaware that we carry the most common cf gene DF508. We found out Clarice was poorly when she was 15 days old as a result of the Guthrie heel prick test. From that day onwards our lives were turned upside down, Clarice has so many medicines and therapies on a daily basis it's difficult to list them all!

Clarice did stay well until she was 9 months old then she was admitted to hospital with breathing and feeding difficulties, we were there for 2 weeks and she coped wonderfully with it all.

This winter has been really tough for Clarice and she is struggling to stay well, she has had a recent hospital stay (October 2014) and had to be admitted with an acute exacerbation of her CF symptoms on her big sisters 7th birthday. She was on oxygen for a number of days and had a two week course of IV antibiotics.

Clarice has so much to cope with and yet she goes through life with a smile on her face and always finds fun even when she is very poorly. CF is so relentless and she never has a day off or break from her strict treatment regime and she never will!

We are so so proud of her and are very grateful to have her in our lives, she brings us such joy every single day. We like to say that although she has Cystic Fibrosis it most definitely does not have her!
