Biography

Charlie was born 9 days early weighing 11lb 1/2oz. He wasn't diagnosed during pregnancy and we only found out about his heart condition when he was 6 hours old. He was immediately transferred from Cardiff to Bristol Children's Hospital. At 1 week old he underwent an arterial balloon catheter. This did not not improve his health so again at 4 weeks old he had another one. He was still extremely ill so at 10 weeks old they had to do his repair surgery, which is normally done on a child of roughly 18 months old.

After 5 months in Bristol he was able to come home. At 3 years old he needed 2 stents and was a week in hospital.
He needs intervention next year, likely a shunt, and then surgery in a few years to repair the TOF again. He will need an ICD (pacemaker) in later teenager years.
