Biography

Bella has fetal alcohol syndrome, her birth mother drank very large quantities of alcohol throughout her pregnancy with Bella. She was born at 37 week weighing only 3lb 3oz, she had failure to thrive, severe global delay, when she was placed with our family for adoption at 20 month she had not been fed solids, she weighed 14lb and was wearing 3 month baby clothes. On her second day of placement she was admitted to hospital with a severe ear infection, one of many to come, rota virus and the worse case of chicken pox I have ever seen.

Once we established a good feeding pattern, Bella started meeting her milestones, she sat up at 2 and walked at 28 month. She has global development delay, auditory processing difficulties, social communication difficulties, she is very tiny for her age, and has learning difficulties, scoliosis and hypermobility. Bella is an absolute joy a true inspiration and a very happy little girl, she may have lots of obstacles to over come but with sheer determination I know she will get there.
