Biography

Darcie was diagnosed with CF via the newborn screening heel price test. She soon suffered numerous infections of the lungs called pseuedomas. She required numerous lengthy hospital stays for IVs to treat the infections. Darcie was then in the care of her birth family. When she out of hospital she suffered neglect and trauma as her birth mum failed to meet her needs and do her medicines. Darcie witnessed domestic violence, alcohol abuse, self harm. Finally, when she was 16 months old she was removed from the birth family and placed with foster carers.A judge decided Darcie should be placed for adoption and she came to us in August 2015. She had a nasty infection in November 2015 and needed IVs in hospital, since then she has been for an operation to remove her portacath, she has had a sleep study done and also been admitted for another infection and needed urgent fluids. She has poor hearing and is awaiting hearing aids to help her more. She goes to her CF clinic every 6 weeks to see how she is doing.
