Biography

Kristian was born well and continued to develop and thrive without problems until he was 7 months old. He started having head drops which would leave marks on his forehead. At the same time he stopped wanting to do anything. He stopped smiling. He was diagnosed with Infantile Spasm syndrome.

We tried all the known treatments but nothing worked. By the time he was 18 months he was having hundreds of seizures every day. Lots of different types of seizures. Although he had learnt to walk, he didn't develop any other skills. He was them diagnosed with Lennox Gastaut Syndrome.

For 2 more years we tried a cocktail of drugs as well as dietary treatments and Kristian just got worse. He was living a seize sleep cycle of life and we thought we would lose him. Then after a hospital stay and some meds tweaking things changed and the seizures were less noticeable. We had about 10 months seizure free and Kristian really came to life.
It didn't last though sadly and the seizures have started to come back. they are not quite as severe as before and are mainly nocturnal, which is a huge worry.

Kristian's development has stayed at around 18 months. He is very active but with no sense of danger. He is non verbal and needs to be fed foods with the consistency you would feed a baby. We have recently been given the additional diagnosis of autism and ADHD.

He is a tough boy with a huge smile and gives great pleasure to everyone he meets. He is my hero.
