Biography

Emily was born with a hole in her heart (vsd) that was surgically repaired when she was 5 months old with open heart surgery. Just 4 months after the surgery she became unwell again and this time was diagnosed with infant acute lymphoblastic leukaemia at just 11 months old. She spent the next 9 months in hospital having 4 rounds of high dose chemo which led to her getting sepsis and a fungal lung infection. She also had severe mucositis which led to her having a mini button surgically placed so she could be tube fed, before being well enough to come home for a further 16 months of maintenance chemo given at home daily and blood tests done weekly.
