Biography

Chester is a 1 year old little boy who had a rough start to life. He was born early at 36 weeks and 4 days. We had a 3 day hospital stay when they picked up on a PDA and a heart murmur. He also originally struggled with jaundice, with several hospital visits, blood tests and medication.

Chester reached 5 and half weeks old when he became very poorly and was rushed to hospital because he became very sleepy and wasn’t drinking his milk. The hospital said he appeared grey on arrival and thought he was dehydrated. They began tests only to realise his pulses weren't quite right so they did an X-ray of his chest when they found his heart was very enlarged. He was then seen by another team at a different hospital who managed to stabilise him and prepare him for his first ever heart surgery on the 9th July 2020. He recovered well from this but there were more problems with the heart that were picked up on scans. Thankfully he doesn’t need any current surgery at this stage but at some point in the future he will need more surgery to correct his heart conditions.
Chester also has a condition called Alagille Syndrome which plays a part in how he’s got his heart conditions.
