Biography

Ellie was born in May at 24+2 weeks, she was 1lb 10oz. She suffered 2 bleeds on her brain which resulted in her having hydrocephalus. Ellie also developed chronic lung disease from the oxygen keeping her alive as well as a problem called ROP which is an issue with her eyes due to the oxygen too. She is now registered partially sighted and has nystagmus. Ellie had to have a tracheostomy at 5 months old due to her upper airway not developing correctly and it needed time to develop and rest. Ellie had a vp shunt fitted at 10 months old to help her hydrocephalus.

By the time she was 2 she was fully diagnosed with cerebral palsy due to the bleeds she had at birth. Ellie was diagnosed with global development delay quite early on due to her not meeting her milestones. In recent years Ellie has been diagnosed with epilepsy and autism. Ellie had multi-level hip surgery and soft tissue surgery last year and most recently her neurology consultant has suggested brain surgery to help with her epilepsy as she is on 3 lots of anti-convulsive medications and still not under control. Ellie has recently had covid19 too.
