Child Interests

Visually Morgan shows most interest when a bright object/picture is placed on a dark background, eg. a bright yellow star placed on a black/navy/dark purple background.

Morgan likes things that sparkle or have a texture or make a noise when touched.

Morgan really likes yellows, oranges, reds, silvers and blues that are bright and stand out.

Morgan loves his neon beads and fibre optic lights, they are easy for him to pick out visually which means he can reach them, grab them and rub them on his hair and face which he really enjoys.

Morgan loves things that sparkle and stand out.

He does best with simpler images without too much detail or too close together. His visual impairment means if there are too many things close together he finds it hard to see individual items.

He loves Button Moon, The Clangers, Moon and Me, Hushabye Lullabies.

More recently he has fallen in love with dogs, he loves waffel dogs and his aunty's maltepoo.

Morgans other love is nature, he loves forests, birds, all animals, the wind in his face and bumpy road tracks.

Biography

Morgan was born by emergency cesarean section at 34 weeks because his mother became very ill and Morgan wasn't able to get enough oxygen in the womb.

Morgan needed resuscitation at birth and was then intubated for several weeks before he was able to breathe on his own. He has been fed by a feeding tube from birth as his brain injury affected his ability to swallow.

Morgan has been in hospital many times, he has severe epilepsy and experiences seizures daily. He has also had many admissions for chest infections, leading to episodes of pneumonia.

Morgan's development is globally delayed, he is not able to sit or walk independently. He also cannot speak words. Morgan is registered as blind, but has some vision that allows him to recognise and play with his favourite toys close by to him.

In spite of all his challenges Morgan is a very sweet boy who loves to make friends with people and animals around him. He works hard to let the world know what he wants through non-verbal cues. He likes being sung to and danced with and his smiles are beautiful things.
