BiographyAda was born full term after an uneventful pregnancy with a severe brain injury following a traumatic birth. She was therapeutically cooled for 72 hours to try and reduce any further brain injury. From a few hours old she started having seizures and was transferred to 3 different hospitals for specialist treatment. She now suffers with cerebral palsy and is unable to roll, sit or stand. She has weekly physio and OT input and this year is attending a couple of intense therapy sessions which we have had to fund raise for.
She cannot use her arms or hands and is unable to feed herself. We are thankful she is orally fed. She also suffers with complex drug resistant epilepsy. She can see but her brain does not interpret what she is seeing, so we don’t know what she sees.
She has a cheeky smile, her first smile was at 19 months. She can also give a perfect side eye and eye roll! She makes us super proud with her resilience to life.
We battle daily with up to 60 seizures, any spike in temperature can trigger cluster seizures that can be hard to manage. Things like a cold, teething or a general bug can be extremely debilitating. Despite all this she attends nursery and loves being with her peers, she loves music and anything that lights up. We love her just the way she is.
