Biography

Lewis was born on february 24th 2004 & everything went really well. Lewis grew & developed normally, although he started walking a little late at around 17 months. At around 6 months Lewis started having Reflex Anoxic seizures - he holds his breath until he turns blue & passes out. By the time he was 2 he was walking absolutely fine, just like your average 2 year old.

Not long after his 2nd birthday he started to limp on his right leg. This was diagnosed as an irritable hip. After around 8 weeks he was able to walk again normally. Mid April 2006 he stopped walking completely & would onlt crawl. In May 2006 we saw a specialist & Lewis started on physio & a whole bunch of tests. In July 2006, Lewis had his first epileptic seizure. In August 2006 he had an MRI. In September he had a 2nd Epileptic seizure. Whilst we were in hospital for a 2nd time , Lewis had an ECG & EEG & several blood tests. His EEG came back abnormal. In October Lewis started to have regular Epileptic seizures & was put on a treatment programme. From around september 2006, his condition worsened considerably & he became unable to sit up unaided. By November 2006 he could not sit up or even support his head & physically all he can do is lie on the floor. He can use his hands although he is very shaky & he can sit in a special chair with the correct support all around. In Novemebr 2006 Lewis went into hospital for a lumbar puncture & tissue & muscle biopsies & the doctors have still not been able to diagnose the condition Lewis has that has caused his physical condition to deteriorate.

Lewis is an incredibly happy chap despite all his problems & he loves to spend time with other kids & interact with them as much as possible. Even though he can't speak or move, his intelligence is normal for his age & he is a very cheeky & incredibly loveable young man who we all love!
