BiographyMalachy lives with me, his nan and has done for 6 years now. His two brothers also live with my husband and I. He is a cheerful lad who complains about nothing. He loves animals, science and learning about animals. He wants to be a farmer or a vet! He is the kindest and loveliest boy who always thinks of others. He uses an electric wheelchair and is hoisted for all other care into bed or wheelchair. Malachy also has an intellectual disability which affects his ability to ask for help, say no and generally is not vocal when it comes to asking people around him. But he has a go at everything and always tries his best.
He has had numerous operations including shunt revisions and metal rods that go all the way up his spine. This resulted in him having a twisted pelvis which has made his scoliosis even worse! He has just had (in January) a 14 hour op for a stoma. Because of his complex scoliosis this operation took much longer than expected. He is recovering and this week been allowed to return to school! He is very happy.
Malachy and his brothers see their mum weekly and speak to their dad on the phone. His relationship with both his parents is good and he loves them dearly.
