BiographyFaith was born by EMCS following a difficult pregnancy and labour. Initially Faith began to develop as you would expect any newborn to develop. At 1 year of age she started talking and walking but at 18 months - 2 years she suddenly became clumsy, she had no spacial awareness and her co-ordination was getting worse. She stopped talking, eye contact stopped, social skills went and behavioural changes were noted with constant meltdowns and frustrations. This led to a referral to a community paediatrician who referred Faith to a specialist unit for an assessment for autism.
Faith had her diagnosis a 3 after going through a hospital assessment with a multi-disciplinary team. This was harrowing for all of us. She found the assessment very triggering and was anxious and stressed throughout. Following the diagnosis this opened doors for Faith to go to a specialist nursery which was an amazing place that she settled into well. This led to Faith having an Educational Health Care Plan to prepare the way for her to go to a specialist school for SEN children. I had to fight and go to tribunal to get her a place at the school that best met her needs.
She now goes to an amazing SLD school. Faith first began to speak again at the age of 7. She continues to blow us away everyday. We celebrate every achievement no matter the size! She is our absolute joy. Despite her challenges she lights up the lives of those around her and makes the world a better place just by being in it.
