BiographyEvie was born with Downs syndrome in 2011, the last of four girls.
In December 2013 she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia after getting lots of little bruises up her arms and on other parts of her body. She went through 6 months of intense chemotherapy but then thankfully recovered well and had a reasonably healthy few years. Went to main stream school and was good at all sports especially football.
Then in February 2019 following a routine asthma clinic appointment, the doctor had noticed she was a little pale (I hadn't, it was winter we were all a little pale) a blood test confirmed Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
She handled treatment fairly well, we had a hold for a kidney stone she got from the steroids but otherwise again she finished treatment in July 2021 but then in October the same year she relapsed. She has been able to try amazing medicines including Blina and Car T therapy but sadly the leukemia keeps coming back.
Whilst receiving Car T therapy she had a reaction in her eyes which left her temporarily without sight in both eyes. Thankfully sight has returned but she has been left impaired in the right eye. She has had lots of surgeries in the left eye to get rid of luekemic infiltrates.
She is currently well, still on active treatment but enjoying every part of life the best she can.
