BiographyIsaac was born at 36 weeks. We noticed after a few weeks that his eyes were really wobbly. He developed a floppy larynx and strange breathing noises when a few months old. The doctors started the ball rolling with different tests as he wasn’t meeting any of his milestones either.
When Isaac was 5 years old he was finally diagnosed with a rare inherited disease, leukodystrophy - Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease (PMD) with mutations in his PLP1 gene that he inherited from his mum. He has also has a mutation in his USP7 gene. Isaac is unable to sit unsupported, he's non verbal and is NG tube fed. He's waiting to have a PEG fitted.
