Biography

Lennox was born at 42 weeks gestation. Straight away we noticed he was floppy and wasn't latching to breastfeed. I rang the triage 4 times in the first 5 days because he slept all day and night and didn’t wake for a feed. When the midwife came round at 5 days old Lennox had dropped 17% of birth weight so he went to hospital for a feeding plan and to get some advice.

On arrival Lennox was 36 degrees internally as they couldn’t find his temperature externally. At 7 days old Lennox started having central apnoeas (pauses in breath) and was ventilated and rushed to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. There he remained ventilated for a week and then he came off the ventilator.

We had every test known to man and they couldn’t find a reason for his sudden decline in health. The last test they offered to do was a full genome test which should hopefully end the medical mystery that Lennox had become. Just over a month after birth Lennox was sent home and at six weeks old we got the diagnosis of Pura syndrome. Lennox is currently 3 with the development of a 7 month old. He has just started crawling and pulling to stand which is something we were told would never happen.
