Biography

Imogen seemed a healthy baby when she was born but as the days went by she began to lose weight, despite feeding almost constantly so it was puzzling to us all.

When she was 5 weeks old the results of her heel prick test came back with a suspected CF diagnosis. The next day we were sent to hospital for a sweat test which confirmed that she did have CF. We were devastated but got on with learning all her new physiotherapy treatments and medications to try and keep her lungs and other organs healthy as possible.

She began to gain weight when she started on pancreatic enzymes to help her absorb the fat from her milk and food. Just before her first birthday she had a chest X ray, Abdomen scan and blood tests done in preparation for her annual review with the specialist team from Alderhey Children's hospital. On her chest x ray it showed up that she had a diaphragmatic hernia which needed repairing. So when she was 13 months old we went off to Alderhey for the operation. She soon bounced back from this and continued to grow and thrive on her treatments.

She attends CF clinic every 2 months or more often if unwell and is checked over by a consultant, nurse, dietician and physiotherapist and she will continue to need medication and Physio for the rest of her life as CF is an incurable illness. In July 2015 she was joined by her baby sister Annabelle who at two weeks old was also diagnosed with CF. We are sure they will be a great support to each other as they grow up as even now they have a fantastic bond and Imogen dotes on her younger sister.
