BiographyLouis and I had a very difficult pregnancy, at 17 weeks pregnant I was told I had a developed an anti-body (Kell) and that it was dangerous to my unborn baby. I needed 5 in-utero transfusions, where donor blood was injected into my stomach and into the babies umbilical cord to keep them alive and to prevent severe anaemia
At 33 weeks pregnant it became to difficult to continue with the transfusions and Louis was delivered via c-section, we couldn’t have been happier, everything was ok.
When Louis was 5 days old we were told news no parents ever expect to hear, Louis had suffered severe brain damage and it would have a huge impact on his life and those around him.
Louis is now 6 years old and nobody knows why or how it happened but he is the happiest little boy with the biggest smile for everyone. He is unable to sit up, crawl, talk or walk (although he is learning with a walker). He gives everything 100% and more.
