Biography

Kenzie was born at 28 weeks into the pregnancy although he had a fight on his hands for the first few weeks of his wee life. We didn’t know much about his struggle as we are his grandparents - Kenzie has stayed with us since he was 5 month old and to be honest we didn’t know anything about cerebral palsy or that doctors were looking for signs of it. It was a total shock to us when he was diagnosed but then it all clicked once we read all about it.

Kenzie started receiving Botox injections at 18 month old every 6 to 9 months under general anaesthetic. As he got older the Botox injections ended up being every 3 to 6 months. In between all that he had ear operations and a hernia operation.

Eventually at the big age of 9 Kenzie travelled to Great Ormond Street Hospital to have the sdr operation. He was there for 3 weeks and then back to Glasgow and straight in to get his ham strings lengthened and Achilles’ tendon done too. Now at the age of 14 he is doing incredibly well.

Kenzie is verbal and although he is only at primary 2 stage work in school, he is remarkable. He tires very easily and still suffers pain but what a boy, a great inspiration.
