Biography

Amelia was born at 28 weeks due to severe preeclampsia and the fact she had stopped growing. She spent 3 months on the neonatal unit during which time she got meningitis twice and pneumonia.

Amelia is a very complex little girl and due to the combination of conditions she has, brain damage, chronic lung disease meaning she is on oxygen 24/7, unsafe swallow so cannot have anything orally it all goes through tube into tummy, Angelman syndrome for her this means she cannot talk, communicate, crawl, sit, stand or walk without specialist equipment, and severe epilepsy. Despite all this she is such a happy little girl

Amelia has a very poor immune system and unfortunately the slightest cough/cold can hospitalise her. She has been in intensive care 7 times in her 5 years of life and we have been told once more and she might not make it back out. She is one amazing little girl though and despite all she has been through she is still here and enjoying her life with her mum, dad and two brothers.
