Biography

Henrietta was healthy and happy until 19 months old when she became mildly unwell during summer with a slight runny nose, odd temperatures, “heat rash” and bruising to her legs. We thought this was all typical of a toddler finding her feet and during a hot summer including the nap sweats and sleeping during the day .

However, Henrietta was short of breath and slightly swollen around her eyes after naps. We took her to the GP who said she had coughless croup. We took her to the out of hours who said virus. Days later we took her to A&E, we thought we were wasting their time. Henrietta ran in happy, 2 mins later she got upset and short of breath and a crash call was made which was the start of many. Henrietta had adrenaline multiple times and a chest X-ray which showed a mass in her chest. We were transported to another hospital where they told us she had T cell ALL and the mass was because of the blood cancer. We were told she might not make the night .

Five days later Etta had 2 cardiac arrests and spent 1-2 weeks “asleep” in paediatric intensive care. Etta has had multiple infections, viruses and blood clots due to treatment. She is nearly 2 years into chemotherapy.

Etta is loving and wild, she is just sunshine. She loves the outdoors and loves Christmas all year round.

During treatment she has spent a lot of time in hospitals and when she’s home she loves a cuddle with her mama and papa. Etta is on countdown to the end of treatment and we can’t wait to get some normality to life again.
