BiographyThere were no signs at birth, we only noticed something was wrong when Scarlett was 9 months old. She was racing around in a baby walker and sitting but then started to straighten her legs and fall over when sitting. The paediatrician booked her in for an MRI much to our shock and disbelief. She was diagnosed with dystonia at 10 and a 1/2 months and started with physio, OT and speech therapy. At about 2 years old she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy too.
She is non-mobile and non-verbal, but has learnt to communicate in different ways and loves to be included with everything that everyone else does. Despite her diagnosis and limitations she is a fun, cheerful 6 year old and loves being sociable, going to school and swimming.
