Child Interests

Tommy loves buses, tractors, ice-cream, ducks, Blippi, Peppa Pig, loves playing outdoors, loves sun glasses, loves hats. His favourite colours are blue, yellow, green, red, black (these are the colours he can say). He's the sweetest, funniest, bravest most loving little boy ever.

Biography

Tommy spent nearly the whole year last year in Manchester Children's Hospital after having first a gene therapy bone marrow transplant which failed, then he had to have a rescue transplant using a donor for a bone marrow transplant. He's struggled since with viruses. His condition means lifelong bone marrow transplants which slow the progression down, it's not a cure, and he will need further operations as he grows.

At birth he was born at 39 weeks with breathing problems called PPHN, high pressures in his lungs, he was ventilated and oxygen dependent for 6 weeks, got discharged at 6 weeks old then was constantly in and out of hospital with respiratory issues. He passed out in the September of 2024, got rushed to hospital and 1 consultant that hadn't seen him since birth asked about genetic conditions. She ran further tests then he was diagnosed in the November with Hurler syndrome severe.
