Just wanted to say thank you so much to all of you Ryan received his quilt it is beautiful. He absolutely loves it keeps checking to see all the beautiful squares. We can't thank you enough Ryan is Over the moon we can't thank you enough for all your hard work and generosity.

Biography

When I was pregnant with Ryan it was discovered he had spina bifida and hydrocepalus up until the week before he was born they told me to abort him stating he would be a vegetable, and he wouldn't be able to do anything. He had an operation an his brain to put in a shunt,then he had operation on spine two weeks later. Ryan is paralysed from just above the waist, he has no feeling at all,he is catherterised 3 hourly,and has suppositories nightly.

In 2007 his shunt went wrong and had to have emergency brain surgery to save his life, due to this surgery he has some brain damage and his learning capabilities are really affected. But through all this on the whole he is a happy chappy, he has just started mainstream secondary school, yes he is a couple of years behind his peers but he tries his best and he is happy. He has a one to one at school as his shunt can go at anytime and is life threatening. He is currently waiting to have a life changing operation on his bladder as his bladder is killing his kidneys, but as a family we are awaiting counselling for him and us as it's such a complicated and life changing operation.
