Biography

Ellie-Jae was born naturally in January 2006. First signs of illness was in May 2006 when I found her having a prolonged seizure in her cot. We took her to A & E where she was intubated and moved to picu.

After a few days she got home, but was still having seizures and was put on anti-epileptic drugs to control them. Ellie was in and out of hospital regularly and in May 2007 had a long seizure (full day) which left her with alot of brain damage. Ellie couldn't walk, talk or eat. She was also partially sighted. We spent 3 months in hospital at this time. Ellie needed 24 hr care and was tube fed. At this point she was diagnosed with Dravets syndrome. Ellie fought so hard and regained the ability to swallow and move about independently but has never walked or talked.

Ellie still has seizures, mostly nocturnal now, and is on the ketogenic diet. She is a very happy young lady that brings so much joy to her family.
