Thank you

I would like to say a huge thank you to all you ladies who stitched a square for Emily and Annabelle and to Leanda for putting the quilts together. I have been stitching squares for other children but have never seen the quilts made up and I was amazed at how beautiful they are! I also made a square for each of them and my girls were thrilled as they have been watching me stitch for other children for months. Both girls loved every single square and the material used to make their quilts. Thank you so so much to you all, you have all made my girls very happy

Biography

Emily was healthy until she was 2 when she developed stomach pains and vomiting. At 7 she was found to have a stomach ulcer and had multiple areas in her stomach which were damaged from healed ulcers. She had a biopsy and then developed a stomach virus.
She was 7 when she became unable to walk more than around the house. She developed headaches and permanent sore throats, painful back and knees. Emily cannot control her body temperature and is always hot. She can't tolerate warm weather and stays in doors.

At 9 she developed acute nerve pain in one side of her face from her scalp, past her eye and down her cheek. This has never gone away and the pain when her skin is touched is excruciating.

She went from a full-time student who was sporty to house bound and needing home tuition. Emily’s fractured many bones and dislocated her knees because of her hypermobility and inability to walk safely due to her condition and her insomnia.

Emily has painful bladder syndrome and takes medication to reduce the amount of time she needs to use the toilet and to control her pain. Emily uses the toilet up to 4 times every hour and about 5 times overnight.

Emily’s Aspergers Syndrome means Emily has problems with smell, noise, textures and taste. She will only eat one small meal a day and has to have build up drinks.

Emily takes 9 different medications a day to control the symptoms from all of her conditions.
