Biography

Ciaran was born on the 3rd February 2016 weighing 8lb 110z. He reached all his milestones apart from walking. He was 2 years old when he started walking and when he did I noticed he was having more falls than the average child and he struggled to stand from a sitting position. He was referred to the hospital for tests.

The paediatrician referred him to see the neuromuscular team who then did a blood test which found that his ck level, a type of protein, was very high so he was then set for a genetics test which confirmed that he had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The diagnosis was a massive shock as there is no history of it in our family.

Since diagnosis Ciaran has faced many challenges but his determination, sense of humour and strength of character has really shone through. He doesn't let anything stop him and he never gives up. He uses a wheelchair for long distances and the wheel spokes have his favourite superheros on. He makes us so proud every day, he is our brave warrior boy.
