BiographyZoren is my fourth child. After his birth, which was my 4th c-section I was very poorly & Z was the most chilled out, sleepy baby. It was only the day after he was born when I was feeling a bit better that I started to suspect that he had Down's Syndrome. After googling signs & symptoms I was pretty sure & pointed this out to a midwife. After much deliberation a consultant agreed with me & we were discharged with some leaflets which were full of negativity & a date for a confirmation blood test. I got home at midnight & cried until morning then decided to start fresh, binned the negative leaflets & since then Z has thrived.
Zoren is a born performer & has found a second home at Chickenshed theatre where he takes part in their regular Tales from the Shed shows & recently performed in a play called Imagine If… Seeing Z on stage was magical & you can see that is where he was born to be. Chickenshed has become family to us & we can’t wait to see him in this year's pantomime. Despite things taking longer for Z & him needing to work so much harder than his peers he always has a smile on his face & his confidence & charm wins him through any sticky situation along with his quick wit & cheekiness.
We’ve had some bumps in the road, when Z was 6 weeks old he had some symptoms of leukaemia & a stressful wait to receive clear tests, then again when he was 3 when thankfully his symptoms turned out to be an underactive thyroid which is controlled with daily medication. Z has small kidneys which are monitored yearly but thankfully they don’t seem to be causing any problems at present & we are currently toilet training as Z is now ready at 9 & all seems to be going well so far.
