Biography

Sasha was born at 38 weeks after an uneventful pregnancy. She didn't breathe when she was born and was rushed to NICU where she was ventilated. She began to have seizures within her first 24 hours of life and despite no longer needing ventilating she continued to have breathing issues. She had an MRI at 8 days old which revealed widespread brain damage caused by oxygen deprivation at birth.

Sasha continues to have seizures and breathing issues due to her brain damage. She is a full time wheelchair user, is jejunostomy fed has visual impairment and is non verbal but very vocal. She's generally a happy little soul and has surprised everyone with her determination, for example learning to sit up unaided at the age of 3 and a half! She is now experiencing some issues with her hips but is still able to smile and make us smile too. She starte school in November and is settling in well and enjoying her time there.
