Biography

Toby was born a chunky monkey at 10lb 2oz and was cheeky from day one. At around 6 months he started to have episodes of tremors and rashes that looked like burns all over his body. He was in and out of hospital until we finally got to see a specialist. After lots of terrifying tests Toby was diagnosed with PFAPA.

PFAPA is a chronic auto-inflammatory disorder. It involves innate immune system dysregulation. It is estimated to involve around 2 to 3 cases per 10,000 children. The exact trigger for PFAPA is unknown. It is not caused by a standard infection and is not contagious. Instead, it is classified as an auto-inflammatory disorder caused by spontaneous, abnormal activation of the innate immune system.
