Spring is here and we've had another busy month with lots of quilts being delivered!

Polycotton Aida
We've noticed an increase in polycotton Aida squares being sent in. Could we ask stitchers to double-check that they are using 100% cotton (usually the Aida that is much cheaper than usual is polycotton). You can check by taking a thread of your Aida and setting fire to it (watch your fingers!) If it's cotton it will burn away to nothing. If it's polycotton it will melt.

Polycotton also melts under a hot iron, so it makes things more difficult for our quilters :)

A great source for Aida is Katzxstitch who sell budget cotton Aida already cut into our 13"x13" size. They also offer a discount code (please ask on our Facebook group or email us about this as they asked us not to post the code on our website)

Fundraising Fayre
Thank you very much to Leanda, Heather and Nessa, and everyone who made items and contributed materials. They made a splendid £385 for us (with some extra from eBay sales on top!)

Website issues
Last week we experienced some issues with the website falling over at peak times (for example during times when quilts open). Gaynor has been optimising the website's code to lower the number of hits on our database and we have also moved on to a higher website hosting package. Both of these things will hopefully resolve the previous problems.


Holly's Hobbies
Further to our post in the last news, the threads/Aida donated by Holly Hinton of Holly's Hobbies has now been despatched. There was a lot of interest in the stash and everyone got at least part of what they requested. Thank you again to Holly!


Gift Aid
Gaynor has submitted our latest Gift Aid form which should allow us to claim £750 back from HMRC. Thank you to everyone who has filled in a Gift Aid form. If you are a UK taxpayer and want to fill in a Gift Aid form, it will allow us to claim an extra 25% on any donations you make with no cost to you. The Gift Aid form can be found on our Donations page
